Romesh Ranganathan has been confiding in hundreds of anonymous theatre audiences for many years, and his wife has, it seems, been happy about this. That is part of why searches for Romesh Ranganathan wife keep popping up. The audience has an image of Leesa from the jokes, but they don’t see her in person very often.
She has no TV career, and she certainly doesn’t have a seat on his chat-show sofa. What she does have is an ongoing part of his act. That is what has been spoken of her before: how they were together, and where fact ends.

Who is Romesh Ranganathan wife?
Leesa Ranganathan, Romesh Ranganathan wife. With his success, is Leesa Ranganathan still a teacher? She was, until her husband rose to fame in stand-up and TV. An official profile for her by 2026 said she was a drama teacher, and something of a recluse, staying “largely in the background”. Other profiles say she was a drama teacher at the time of her husband’s rise to fame in 2016, but don’t say whether she still teaches.
Her age is hardly known at all. There’s just a single regional source saying she was born in 1979. So that should be considered one report and treated as such.
How Romesh and Leesa met
Where it all began… It all began in Crawley, West Sussex, where Romesh was born and raised. They met while both working at the same secondary school in the town. He was teaching maths, and she was working in the drama department – an article states the school is Hazelwick School, and many other sources say they met in 2009.
Timing, because this was ages before the television work. According to one tale, Romesh had been sixth form supremo and would spend his evenings trying out comic routines in the pub. Leesa knew him as a teacher with a little side gig, not as a regular on your TV screen.
A quick aside. A few sources give a date of 2009 for the couple being married, while several other profiles that are reportedly associated have 2010. I have yet to find sources, and some have conflated when they met with when they got married to the same date. So, happily, the most sure I can say is they met circa 2009 and wed circa 2009 or 2010.
Leesa in the act
If you’ve seen Romesh perform, you’ll be familiar with Leesa’s name, which he mentions often in his stand-up, usually rather less than kindly. He’s mined his marriage and their tussles over child-rearing, as well as their sex life, for material. He once wrote about an early set that was a matter-of-fact account of their passion levels.
The obvious question is whether she minds. According to the same column, she “genuinely sees it all as just comedy, and therefore meaningless.” That seems to be the working arrangement. He gets the material, and she treats the stage version of herself as a character that has little to do with her.
He has also joked about the secret to a good marriage: According to the newspaper, he told an interviewer that he was often away from home for long periods of time as a result of his job. He said that if the work ever faded and he was home more, they would “100% be divorced”. It’s a joke and should be taken as such.
Family life and the 2023 vow renewal
They are parents of three sons, Theo, Alex and Charlie. Romesh even sported a tattoo of their names. Some family trivia that has been told so many times it could even be true: Charlie was born in Edinburgh in the Fringe festival whilst Romesh was gigging. They’re now teenagers, and they aren’t all that excited by their fame, Romesh says. He told a paper recently that everything he does is embarrassing for them. And that makes sense with the way he seems to describe himself in his comedy, a guy with little authority around the house.
There has also been a unique public occasion for the pair. In the summer of 2023, they marked their vow renewal by means of a summer celebration with their closest buddies. Has been described as a quiet celebration for now, and no photo-led chronicle of the occasion has been published. 2021 reporting says Romesh was living in Crawley then, and that he still refers to it in his work. Whatever his TV schedule is, Romesh appears to have continued to reside in the same town with his family.
Why the public interest persists
Some of it is just curiosity. Romesh has been going full throttle for some time now. He’s a regular panellist on A League of Their Own and The Weakest Link, runs a popular podcast, and was in the second series of Last One Laughing just recently. The more famous he becomes, the more we all want to know about the bloke he mentions on stage.
That makes the contrast all the clearer. Leesa has largely abstained from interviews and media coverage. That sets her apart from other comics’ spouses, and offers a void that search engines and gossip websites rush to fill. And some of what they fill it with is questionable, so it’s a good idea to be sceptical of anything without a named source.
What we don’t know
Other than that, the details become scarce pretty fast. I could not find a trustworthy source saying whether or not Leesa has a job, how much of her own money she earns, or any interview where she speaks honestly about their relationship. All pages that make promises to tell you her net worth or personal life are not sourcing their claims, so I have left those out. That is, unless she ever opens up about things herself.
His comedy, which he delivered via a series of punch lines and pithy asides, is dry and self-effacing. His mother, Shanthi, now famous in her own right through his podcast and TV career, came to Crawley from Sri Lanka as a teenager.
The short version
The Romesh Ranganathan wife story is actually a tale of two different people. One person has made his way in the world by being comfortable with expressing every thought; the other has opted for saying very little. But what they do have is verifiably humble but rock solid. Leesa is a former or current drama teacher who met the comedian at a Crawley school around 2009; they have three boys and made their second vows in 2023, and she dismisses the fact that she’s in his routine as a boring fact of life.
Anything else is either still unverified or proprietary to Leesa. Their managing fame with some degree of distance and a healthy dose of humor may be the most remarkable thing about the Irwin Family.
