Good Morning Britain: Started 28 April 2014. The show started with seven main presenters. In 2026, with a new studio, extended episodes and a weekly rota, there are five presenters. Anyone who’d occasionally tuned in some years ago would find it hard to remember who is on when. The last two years have seen more changes to the GMB presenters line-up than the previous five combined. Ben Shephard has moved to another channel, Piers Morgan left, then a series of guest presenters came and went, ending up as the permanent team.
Who are the Good Morning Britain presenters right now?
Five hosts form the core team: Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway, Ed Balls, Richard Madeley and Ranvir Singh, with Reid fronting the show. The weekly schedule was reworked in January 2026, the same month the programme relocated to a different studio. Monday to Wednesday are presented by Ed Balls, with Richard Madeley presenting on Thursday, and Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh on Friday. Reid presents most of the week, with Garraway presenting some Thursdays.
Charlotte Hawkins is still the usual holiday stand-in, and Paul Brand was named as a one-day-a-week replacement in February 2026 – although the article was so short on details that I couldn’t find the source. From behind the desk, Laura Tobin presents the weather, Andi Peters hosts the competitions, Richard Arnold presents the entertainment news, and Dr Amir Khan reports on health. Richard Gaisford, one of the “originals” and a mainstay on the desk since the launch, finally presented his last episode in December 2025 after 26 years.

Career: Reid studied politics, philosophy and law at the University of Bristol before training as a broadcast journalist in Cardiff. She started out her career in local radio at BBC Radio Bristol and was a reporter on Radio 5 Live and BBC News 24 before first appearing on the presenting team of BBC Breakfast as a stand-in in 2001. She stayed with the programme for more than a decade.
On 3 March 2014, the BBC announced that Reid would be joining the BBC Breakfast team as a new presenter, before she was due to start presenting the latest in a string of new breakfast shows a month later. She was a Strictly finalist in 2013.
How the line-up got here
Daybreak ended in 2014, and the show was led by Reid, Garraway, Ben Shephard, Charlotte Hawkins, Ranvir Singh, Sean Fletcher, and John Stapleton, while Laura Tobin was the weather girl. The biggest shake-up occurred in November 2015 when Piers Morgan joined the main table alongside Reid. His exit followed in March 2021, after his remarks about Meghan Markle. For a long stretch afterwards, the seat beside Reid was taken by a rotation of guests, among them Madeley, Martin Lewis, Alastair Campbell, Robert Rinder and Ed Balls.
In January 2022, it was revealed that Reid was to be principal presenter with rotating co-presenters. Originally guest-presenting in August 2017, press rumoured a £300,000 contract, but this was unconfirmed by ITV. Balls became a regular rotating presenter from July 2022. In February 2024, the presenter announced that Ben Shephard would leave GMB to join This Morning, with his final appearance on 23 February; until December 2025, Adil Ray and Robert Rinder shared Friday mornings with Garraway, until GMB settled on fixed days in 2026.
A longer show, a new home
ITV consolidated its national news gathering at a single centre in 2026 and lengthened the programme by 30 minutes, and sometimes by an hour. GMB now runs from 6 am to 10 am in weeks when Lorraine isn’t on. ITV said the additional time would enable more regional news, investigations and analysis.
Speaking to a Woman & Home interview on the magazine’s 100th birthday, Reid called the switch to ITN a “huge, dramatic change”. The outspoken presenter revealed she and Morgan had had a “bumpy ride” following his exit but are now friends again. Reid said their most passionate rows had helped shape her into a better journalist.
Why the rota matters to viewers
Fixed days are handy for viewers: before 2026, you might turn on knowing both that neither Madeley nor Balls was on, but not which was first. Now the lineup is more consistent: Balls across the top of the week, Madeley in the middle, Garraway and Singh to finish each week. Balls, a one-time Labour opposition-shadow chancellor, has political chops; Madeley is a veteran chat-show host.
Confusing searchers is the fact that there is an overlap with This Morning, which is on at the same time in ITV’s daytime slot. Ben Shephard is now on GMB, so if searching for him today, that’s the programme to find. Singh and Garraway have both spent years in news and daytime and make Fridays lighter, but still newsy.
What to know about the Good Morning Britain presenters
Nothing else needs to be said, but here are the five presenters to remember… Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway, Ed Balls, Richard Madeley and Ranvir Singh. Reid has fronted the show since it first aired on 28 April 2014. Fridays are now hosted by Garraway and Singh after the rota was changed again this January 2026.
Ben Shephard’s departure was confirmed in February 2024, when he left Good Morning Britain to present This Morning instead. Morgan had left that job three years prior, in March 2021. It is worth noting that on TV it can often be others hiding behind the cover, so if you’re trying to track down one presenter, go to ITV listings first.
