Streaming Deals Are Getting Smaller. That Might Be Good News.

For most of the last decade the streaming business bought certainty: big names, long deals, and a slate assembled from whoever was already famous.
That money has tightened. Commissioning teams are back to reading pitches, and budgets are being set per project rather than per personality.
The immediate effect is painful for anyone mid-deal. The longer effect may be a schedule with fewer, better shows and rather more room for first-time creators.
Nobody in the industry will say that on the record. Off the record, several told us the correction was overdue.
